Today is warm with some of the snow melting around us. We all have many projects at home and work that we are busy planning what the next steps are. We are currently working on Making Dreams come true in North Berwick.
Shawn worked as a teenager on a farm in Central Connecticut. Here he had mentors that guided him both personally and professionally. He made friendships that are still strong today. He has lead his life with many happy moments and little regrets, however, he just knew that something was missing. Several years ago, while his wife was in labor with their second child, he realized he wanted his children to have the strength and happiness that he learned many years ago, and he wanted to start a small farm. For years, he searched to find the right location to begin his new endeavor. Last March he closed on what will soon be known to the world and the small town of North Berwick as Nature's Acres. He has been working diligently behind the scenes to get everything in place over the past few months. We have the pleasure of joining him on this journey. Very soon, we will begin the excavation process to take this newly logged lot and form it into, a business to be proud of. This is the Farm of his Dreams, and we plan to make it everything and more. So if you are on Route 4/High Street in North Berwick, Maine in the near future, look for us, and check our progress on how we are "Making a Dream Come True". ![]() Many people, especially “do it yourselfers”, love to take hold of home improvement projects on their own, without the assistance of professionals. Installing a septic tank may be one of the projects you think you can handle on your own, but in reality it takes more work and proper planning than originally anticipated. Here are a couple of the reasons why you should avoid installing a septic system yourself and have the professionals deal with it. The first step to installing a septic tank is going to your city hall and finding out exactly what you can and cannot do. Every town, city and municipality has different rules and regulations regarding installation and placements of septic systems. Professionals, like us who specialize in septic work, are already aware and familiar with all the regulations, and even if we’re not, we’ll find out ourselves in order to stay within code and regulation. The next step is acquiring a construction permit. Paperwork, more trips to city hall, and more time spent if you’re doing it by yourself. We’ll have the permits, deal with the paperwork and make sure it’s all set to go in the end. Now it’s time for the work. Digging. Lots of digging. Unless you have the equipment already, like an excavator or other heavy duty machinery, you have to do this by hand. That could be a problem. If you don’t have the equipment, of course you could rent it, but the cost starts adding up. Not only that, but if you don’t know how to operate it, what’s the point in renting it. Learning on the job with a project like this is not the best option. Once the hole is dug installing the tank and system is next. There’s a lot of technicality involved with this step. Certain angles and grade is required in order to have proper flow and avoid future problems with possible pipes freezing or backup. The final step is filling in the dirt and getting everything back to normal. With us, you get professional service with years of experience in landscaping and excavating as well. There’s a lot involved with installing a septic system. In New England and Maine especially, the cold climate can lead to issues with septic systems. Why wouldn’t you avoid the hassle initially and have a professional take care of it setting you for a safe and sound future. It’s our specialty. Something we handle on a daily basis and have the experience and expertise to get it done right and efficiently. Please check back for more information on our company, services and what we’re up to. Currently we are dusting off the plows and gearing up for the winter in preparation of snowfall. We’re busy all year and the winter is no different. We have come to that time of year again, when the snow starts to fly. I am not sure if you are prepared, I can honestly say, I am not. I think I have been in denial that it was actually coming, and here it is the season’s first snow already behind us. I am hoping that old man winter takes it easy on us this year. Some snow is good, but I don't want to have so much that we are not able to ENJOY it!
We have recently sent out estimates for our past clients. If you did not get one or would like a free estimate on snow plowing for this season, do not hesitate to give us a call. 207-252-5906. You never know where you will find us, as we are often out onsite. Currently, you may find us in Newcastle, NH working on connecting an estate to city sewer and water. This has been a long project, that has taken great patience, but the end is in sight. We are very thankful for the wonderful subcontractors that have assisted us along the way! We really could not of done it without them. We also, want to extend our thanks to the patient neighbors who have allowed this project to proceed smoothly. It is cooperation all around that makes our job rewarding!
So keep your eyes open, and I am sure you may see us. Or if you can check back here any time. As always, feel free to call or email us anytime with your questions, concerns, or to price out your next project! Until next time, Enjoy the Day! |
